Trillium Season

The woods are bursting with trilliums right now! We took a walk on our land earlier this week, carefully weaving between the big white blooms.

We also had our eyes pealed for wild leeks (also known as ramps), which come up around the same time as the trilliums, but didn’t find any. They like low, wet areas…I think our land is a little too high and dry for them. Luckily we know where else to find them around here. 😉 They make a killer pesto.

Noticing nature and its rhythms, and the seasonal treats like wildflowers and ramps, mushrooms, winterberries, wild strawberries and blueberries, and being tuned-into the seasons and the micro-seasons within a season, is one of the best things about living out in the country and one of the reasons we want to move out of town.

I love hearing about your new land and can’t wait to visit. Just planted some trillium in my garden one of my favorite woodland flowers!
